This is Brandi Silver, FCS agent with the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Burke County Center.  Our program today is about moving more.

Being physically active will help you achieve your health goals.  Adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity such as brisk walking each week or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity, like jogging or running and 2 days of muscle strengthening activities that work all major muscle groups.

One way to monitor your exercise intensity level is the talk test. You should be able to sing during a light intensity activity.  For moderate intensity you should be able to carry on a conversation and during a vigorous intensity workout you should be winded or too out of breath to carry on a conversation.

Be mindful of how you move your body throughout your daily routine to increase your physical activity.  Do you take the stairs or use the elevator? Do you park far away or do you cruise the parking lot looking for the closest parking space?

Enjoy the benefits of being physically active.  Pay attention to how you feel after physical activity and use that as motivation to keep moving!
