Sophia Mozgala
Summer Intern
This is Sophia Mozgala, the new 4-H Summer Intern with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Burke Center. Today I want to inform you about soil testing kits that are available at our local office.
It’s that time of year again, everyone is out for the summer and starting all of those summer yard projects. Whether it be animals or plants there will always be some sort of problem that will pop up when you least expect it. You work as hard as you can and you just can’t seem to figure out the problem. Well may I suggest testing your soil? There are several causes to problems that are soil based, it could be the acidity, it could be a fungus that thrives in the soil, or it could just be a lack of nutrients. The best way to figure it out is getting a free soil test kit at our local office. There are two options, homeowner and commercial. Homeowner is highly suggested if you are testing out a small area of land, such as your flower beds or garden plot. But, if you are concerned about acres of soil then use the commercial option. The only thing you have to pay for is postage and send it off to NC State to get the results. Once you get them back, don’t fret if you don’t understand. Give us a call and have our agents decipher the information and see if we can help solve your problem. So come on down to the Burke county office and get your soil sample kits today! Don’t guess, get a soil test.
