This is Brandi Silver, FCS agent with the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Burke County Center. Our program today is about the Mediterranean Diet and a program offered by Extension.
Beginning Sept. 22, we will be Falling into good eating habits by exploring a research based program, Med Instead of Meds. With the holidays quickly approaching, many of us need to clean up our diet, reduce the amount of processed foods we consume and lose a few inches before we spend time with loved ones over our favorite comfort foods and holiday traditions. The class will be held on Thursdays between 12-2 at the Extension office.
This series is focused on consuming a healthy Mediterranean-style eating pattern. Each session explores 1–2 simple steps, a mindfulness skill, and features Med Way recipes. Food demonstrations and/or cooking instruction is included in each session. Eating the Med Way has been proven to protect against chronic illness. In some cases, eating the Med Way may even result in decreasing medications taken for blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes. Sign up for this series and let me show you how to use your pans instead of pills to become healthier.
