This is Brandi Silver, Family and Consumer Sciences agent with the NC Cooperative
Extension, Burke County Center. Our program today is about an exciting
opportunity for local farmers and businesses—the Grower-Buyer Connection event
being held on Nov. 18.

Through the Empowering Mountain Food Systems initiative grant, N.C. Cooperative
Extension and the Small Business Center of Burke County are hosting a Grower-
Buyer Connection event. This event aims to connect local growers with buyers right
here in Burke County, helping build strong and lasting sales relationships.
Growers will have 8-10 minutes of one-on-one time with each buyer in a respectful
and efficient setting. They’ll be able to share product lists, photos of their farms,
and even samples, while buyers outline their specific product needs, volume
requirements, and delivery terms. It’s a fantastic way for growers to expand their
business and for buyers to discover fresh, local products.

This event is also part of our work with the newly-formed Burke County Food
Alliance, which is focused on connecting the local food system and creating a
thriving community around locally grown foods. We’re excited about the impact this
event will have in fostering stronger connections between growers and buyers,
strengthening the entire food system in Burke County.

To help growers prepare, we’re also offering a Sales Sheet Prep session prior to
the event, designed to help you create professional, polished sales materials to
make a great impression.
