The Drexel Community Fair is coming soon and will be hosted at the fairgrounds from August 19-24. Your Local Extension Office will be there hosting a number of fun events. I personally, will be hosting the exhibition of Floriculture as in flowers  and Horticulture as in produce. Any Burke county resident can enter a submission. We will be taking in specimens from a number of categories. Floriculture consists of Roses, Annuals, Perennials, Dahlias, Houseplants, Shrubs, Herbs and finally Arrangements. Each Specimen must be grown by the exhibitor and be named. A single person may enter one entry per class or subdivision. Each Section has multiple classes and those classes are broken down even further into subcategories. For Example: if you’re submitting Zinnias. Zinnias will be broken up into several colors. If you have a red specimen and a pink specimen then you can enter both into the Zinnia class. The Fair is a fun and community based event where residents can compete and enjoy each other’s interests and hobbies. We will also be doing our fan favorite Veggie Varmints. Veggie varmints is a competition where youth decorate Produce to look like an animal or person. It is a fun creative activity that is sure to bring some laughs and smiles. We look forward to seeing everyone there at the fair!
