Today’s Program is on Christmas Trees. I’m talking about real Christmas trees. Fraser and Douglas Firs, Pines, and Spruces. There's a few things you need to look for when picking christmas trees. Pay attention to the area the trees are kept in. Is the ground wet from periodic irrigation? Is the tree heavy? A tree that is retaining water will be heavier than a dry tree. Is the Foliage cool to the touch? A drier tree will feel warmer. Is sap still flowing out the end? A fresher tree will have a sticky end from sap flowing. Be sure to work with the grower and ask questions and be patient. You are one of many customers looking for the perfect tree. If you are looking for more information about Christmas tree care for the homeowner. I am doing a workshop on Dec. 6th at 1 o'clock at the Burke County Ag building.
