Burke County 4-H Fall Opportunities 2021

Hello this is Nicki Carpenter, 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent with N. C. Cooperative Extension, Burke Center.

Burke County 4-H is in full swing this fall. 4-H is a community youth organization for youth ages 5-19. We currently have several community clubs throughout the county that all specialize in different interest such as Science, Homeschooling, Horses, and some that have a general interest where they pursue various topics throughout the year. Youth in these community clubs learn a sense of teamwork, club management, business meeting procedures with officers, recreation and social networking. 4-H activities engage youth to build upon the knowledge of their interest with research based educational hands on activities and gain experiences in life skills.

This fall we have also launched three new county 4-H SPIN Clubs: one in Sewing, one for our cloverbuds: which are younger youth ages 5-7, and one for our Teens (ages 14-19). These clubs will meet once a month and establish momentum to branch out as a community club with leadership opportunities.

The next Sewing Club dates are November 8 and December 6 from 5:30-7:30pm.

The Cloverbud and Teens will meet next on November 22 and December 20th, with cloverbuds at 5:30-6:15pm and Teens from 6:30-7:30pm.
