This is Matt Rodriguez, horticulture agent with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Burke Center.
Today’s Program will provide some baseline information on the upcoming Bee School offered by the Burke County Beekeepers Association. The Beekeepers will be holding an Open House during their January Meeting on January 13th starting at 6pm here at the Burke County Agricultural Building. The class will take place in February on two different days. February 1st and the 8th. The class will cover the science and practical aspects of beekeeping and honey harvesting. It’s important to know that Bees are in fact wild insects that are cared for and protected from disease and natural predators. Much like any livestock you see in pastures. The main difference is of course the way you care and harvest their product. The class will provide you not only with the “How” but as well as the “Why”. If you are interested in beekeeping then this class is for you.
