Hello, this is Nicki Carpenter, 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Burke Center.

Show off your creative skills and participate in the Burke County 4-H Pumpkin contest! Participation is open to all Burke County, NC residents and you do not have to be in 4-H. There are various ways to participate: carved, painted, or creative pumpkins. There is a category for photos or drawings of your fall pumpkin scene/display/grouping as well as a pumpkin photo contest! The photo contest categories are: "The Pumpkin Patch", "Pumpkin Pie", "The Itsy Bitsy Pumpkin", "Is That A Pumpkin!?!", and "Other". In all contest categories, four divisions are available to participate in : Cloverbud (ages 5-7 and non-competing/ Recognition prize for participation), Junior Division (8-13 yrs old), Senior Division (14-18 yrs old), and the Family/Group Effort division.

Drop off Dates for Creative, Painted and Carved pumpkins and Decorative Drawings are November 1-3, 8am-5pm. All Decorative Display photos and Pumpkin photos are to be submitted by 5pm on November 3. Winners will be announced on November 7th via email, social media, and personal contact. If you have any questions or concerns please call our office at 828-764-9480.
