Area 4 IM Advisory Committee
Meeting Minutes – December 4, 2008
The Area 4 Information Management Advisory Committee met at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008, via the Elluminate web conferencing application.
Members in attendance were Gloria Artis, Greene County; Patricia Burch, Sampson County; Susan Graham, Chatham County; David Morrison, Scotland County; Michelle Shooter, Robeson County; and Debbie Stroud, Johnston County.
Adrian Gaskins, area information management agent, welcomed committee members and then provided an EIT news update. News items included the following:
- the new IM agent, Kyleen Burgess, in northeastern quadrant of the state
- the status of the upcoming change from the Oracle calendaring system to WolfWise
- the Elluminate conference that Gaskins will attend on December 16
- the SE District’s use of Elluminate for its monthly CED meeting
- the resource available for opening .docx files
- the announcement to CEDs about the next Mac equipment lease
Gaskins next sought input from committee members about Extension’s Label Information Management System. The committee members expressed interest in a LIMS tool for address verification.
Gaskins told the group that he and the other IM agents would be meeting in Raleigh with the campus EIT staff on December 9 – 11. He offered to convey to EIT any suggestions and/or comments that committee members wanted to share. The committee expressed a desire for the IM agent to make more county visits and to spend more time in county centers. Committee members also voiced their pleasure with the wireless network access now available in some of their county centers.
Gaskins announced the schedule of advisory committee meetings for 2009:
Thursday, March 5, at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 16, at 9:30 a.m.
Tuesday, December 8, at 9:30 a.m.
Gaskins expressed gratitude to Gloria Artis for her service on the advisory committee. Artis will retire shortly after the beginning of the new year.
After thanking committee members for their input and support, Gaskins adjourned the meeting at 9:30 a.m.
