Med Instead of Meds is a six- session class series focused on eating a healthy Mediterranean style eating pattern (aka, eating the Med Way). Classes focus on the 7 simple steps to eating the Med Way. Each session explores 1-2 simple steps, a mindfulness skill, and features med way recipes from medinsteadofmeds.com. Food demonstration or cooking instruction is included in each session. Class series is $10.

Join other K-8 classroom and nonformal educators as we explore activities in the Project Learning Tree K-8 Curriculum Guide. Every participant will leave the workshop with the PLT K-8 Activity Guide which includes 96 activities correlated to the NC Standard Course of Study and Essential Standards. The PLT activity guides are provided free of charge to participants through support from the NC Forestry Association. CEU renewal credits are available. This workshop qualifies for Criteria I in the EE Certification Program (K-8). This workshop is being held in partnership with STEMWest.
STEM Connections? Differentiated instruction? Literature links? The PLT activity guide covers it all!!! The PreK-8 guide is correlated to the Common Core (math and ELA) as well as to the NC Essential Standards (science and social studies). Participants will learn about the materials through direct engagement in the PLT activities throughout the workshop. More details will be sent prior to the workshop.

Workshop is $50 per person cash or check payable to Burke County Beekeepers. Includes 1-year membership to the Burke County Beekeepers Association, a reference notebook and lunch.
