Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Class for 2021

— Written By and last updated by

Due to COVID-19 restrictions the Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer training that usually begins in January is being postponed until March. Hopefully, the difficulties in having face-to-face meetings will have improved by then.

Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers are required to attend a 13-week class where they are trained in many different gardening techniques such as plant propagation, pruning, vegetable gardening, weed identification, landscaping, and much more. Many of these classes are hands-on. After graduation, the new Master Gardener volunteers are required to give 40 hours of volunteer time back to Extension horticulture programs. This can be accomplished in many different ways.

If you would like information on this program please give our office a call at 828-764-9480. We have a large, successful program and are very proud of our service to the residents of Burke County.

Visit the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers website for more information on the program.
