— Written By N.C. Cooperative Extension

On Tuesday, August 16, Burke County Cooperative Extension and Burke County 4-H hosted the 4-H Youth Goat Show at the Drexel Community Fair.  Several youth participated by showing off their 4-H project goats in a variety of classes including showmanship classes, doe classes, market wethers, and even a dairy goat class. Grand Champion Doe honors went to Mason Settle showing his doe Pippa. Taking home the honor of Reserve Grand Champion Doe was Brittany Clay showing Dolly. The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion received trophies given by Burke County Farm Bureau. Mr. Roland Beck presented the awards on behalf of Burke County Farm Bureau. Mr. Ted Clayton judged the show.

Burke County 4-H and North Carolina Cooperative Extension would like to thank the show sponsors: Drexel Community Fair, Burke County Farm Bureau, Belle Farm, Espey Hardware, Homer’s Feed and Seed and the Burke County Cattlemen’s Association.
