4-H Hosts Annual Awards Celebration

On Tuesday, February 22nd, Burke County Cooperative Extension and Burke County 4-H hosted 4-H Achievement Night. Each year Burke County 4-H honors its 4-Hers and clubs by recognizing their accomplishments with annual awards. At this event, 4-Hers are also receive awards for completing 4-H project record books and for their volunteer service in the community.

This year the following 4-Hers were recognized as blue ribbon winners for their 4-H project books: Amelia Tipton, Emily Shuping, Charlie Yancey, Conner Laney, Burke Pollard, Tripp Berry, Wyatt Tipton, Pate Pollard, Ben Earl, Noah Earl, Mollee Soirez, Jamie Berry, and Drew Thomas. These 4-Hers will now continue on to compete at the district and state levels.

Burke County 4-Hers also work each year for 4-H Achievement Level Awards. This year the following 4-Hers earned new achievement levels: Conner Laney- Green, Amelia Tipton- Green, Wyatt Tipton- Green, Burke Pollard- Green, Tripp Bery- Green, and Mollee Soirez- Silver.

Each year, Burke County 4-H recognizes one youth for the 4-H “I Dare You!” Award that goes to a 4-Her who we “dare” to succeed. This year Wyatt Tipton, from the F.R.O.G. 4-H Club, was presented this award for his enthusiasm to achieve more in 4-H and his eagerness to continue learning.

This year, Jamie Berry was awarded the Best Officer Award for her outstanding job as vice president of the Burke County 4-H Council. Jamie is a member and has served in many offices in the Bridle Bunch 4-H Club.

This year’s award for Outstanding 4-Her of the Year was given to Pate Pollard. In 2010, Pate worked in a great variety of 4-H projects and also worked to teach other 4-Hers as a youth leader. Pate was also a youth leader at the Drexel Fair and the Burke County Fair as well as team captain of the Junior Horse Bowl team. Pate plans to continue this 4-H success in 2011.

Burke County 4-H would like to thank all of the Burke County 4-Hers, volunteers, 4-H families and our community supporters for their dedication to the Extension 4-H program.
