Farm-City Week

— Written By N.C. Cooperative Extension

Burke County Cooperative Extension is celebrating the 2009 Farm City Week by co-sponsoring an Agricultural Demonstration Day.

On Monday, Nov. 16th , Cooperative Extension and Western Piedmont Community College will be holding a free workshop for citizens to learn more about sustainable farming.  Participants will have the opportunity to hear from a nationally known farmer, Joel Salatin, participate in a variety of demonstrations and exhibits on today’s best practice farming techniques, and tour the property to see what is being done locally.  The workshop will be held from 1-5 p.m. with Registration beginning at 12 noon at the Burke County Agricultural Building.    A meal will not be provided, however, there will be afternoon refreshments.

We hope that you will join us as we celebrate Farm-City Week at the Ag. Demonstration Day on Nov. 16th.  If you have questions or concerns, please call Chip Hope at WPCC or Donna Teasley at the Burke County Cooperative Extension office.
