Burke County 4-H, the North Carolina REAL program and Western Piedmont Community College will host this camp for middle school students to introduce them to the world of entrepreneurial business. Through a series of interactive and innovative activities, youth will learn about starting their own business that matches with community needs. Youth will create their own business, design a business plan, manage money, and design marketing materials. All participants will receive a camp t-shirt and snacks for the week. Campers will need to bring a bag lunch for each day of camp.

Place in Charlotte with their Circus exhibit. On our trip we will explore the Discovery Halls, view the Circus exhibit and watch an amazing IMAX movie to finish off our day under the big top. Youth will enjoy a week of campfires, canoeing, climbing, archery, swimming, environmental education, crafts, and games while having fun with friends. Spaces available on first come first serve basis. Scholarship applications are available. $75 non-refundable deposit due at time of registration.

Join us for a wonderful day of exploring science at the Catawba Science Center. There we will view science exhibits, learn about Southeastern swamplands, and see a show in their new planetarium. After a picnic lunch, we will experience physics up close and personal at Mimosa Lanes for some afternoon bowling. Please wear tennis shoes and socks. Bring a picnic lunch, drink and if interested, money for the gift shop.
Travel with our Livestock Agent, Damon Pollard, as we tour local livestock production sites in Burke County. We will see chicken and egg production, beef production, goat farming and a working horse facility. Wear tennis shoes and bring a picnic lunch and drink.
Join us as we visit South Mountain State Park to enjoy the great outdoors, the cool waters, and a special program with Burke County Soil and Water Conservation. During the morning we will enjoy a fun program learning about our environment, followed by a picnic lunch. After lunch we will hike to see the trails and breath-taking waterfalls. Wear your bathing suit and tennis shoes that you can wear in the water. Bring a picnic lunch, drink, sunscreen, towel and dry clothes.
Join us for a great day of learning about gardening and plants with our local Burke County Master Gardeners. We will tour the Extension community gardens, learn about starting your own garden and create some neat plant projects to take back home. Wear your gardening clothes, tennis shoes, and sunscreen and bring a picnic lunch and drink.
On this day kids can enjoy a variety of fun summer games indoors and out, all while learning about sun safety and how to stay healthy during the summer. Kids will learn by participating in games and activities with Cooperative Extension staff followed by a picnic lunch. After lunch we will put those safety skills to work as we go swimming at a local park. Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes to play in. Bring a picnic lunch, bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen.

Bring some of your favorite pictures and learn about the art of scrapbooking. Participants will create a special scrapbooking project to take home and learn new scrapbooking techniques from our local scrapbooking experts.
Ages 8 & up Limit 12 9 am - noon Cost $25 Youth will learn basic sewing skills before completing a project to take home. This is a 2-part program.
